PSLV C-61
▪ Sriharikota The PSLV C-61 rocket carrying an Earth observation satellite is scheduled to be
launched from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, May 18
▪ ISRO has been developing and deploying various satellites for Earth observation and remote
sensing applications, including Cartosat, Scatsat, RISAT, and others.
▪ In this series, ISRO has designed the advanced ES-09 (RISAT-B) satellite for Earth
observation activities. This satellite is scheduled to be launched on Sunday (May 18) at 5:59
AM from the launch pad at Sriharikota using the PSLV C-1 rocket.
▪ This technology can be used for military surveillance operations necessary for defense.
Additionally, this technology will be useful for disaster management, agriculture, and forest
conservation.
▪ The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched its 100th satellite from Sriharikota last January.
