Geographical landmarks
Doklam
 Doklam is a plateau in the Chumbi Valley at the tri-junction of India, Bhutan, and China.
 It is located 68 km east of Gangtok, Sikkim, at an altitude of 13,780 feet.
 Doklam is being opened as a battlefield tourism site starting September 2025.
 Initiative by the Defence Ministry under the Bharat Rannbhoomi Darshan scheme.
Other Battlefield Sites in Sikkim:
 Nathu La (already a tourist spot; 58 km from Gangtok).
 Cho La, site of 1967 clashes between Indian and Chinese troops.
 All three are being developed with cafeterias, restrooms, amenities, and parking in collaboration with the Indian Army.
Sikkim’s Status:
 Was an Indian protectorate until 1975.
 Became India’s 22nd State after a referendum in May 1975.
