▪ The discussion was the first of a series of dialogues initiated by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE), tit-led Uyarkalvi Uraiyadal-gal.
▪ The topic was ‘Impact of Generative Al on the Fu-ture of Education and Employment’.
Aplastic anaemia registry launched in Chennai
▪ State-wide Tamil Nadu Aplastic Anaemia Registry (STAR).
▪ The focus of the registry was on facilitating early referral and diagnosis of suspected aplastic
anaemia cases across the State, and ensuring access to advanced diagnostic tools, including HLA typing, chromosomal breakage studies, next-generation sequencing, and karyotyping.
▪ It will also focus on promoting early evaluation for bone marrow transplantation, reducing
complications, and improving outcomes.
▪ Anaemia is a life-threatening blood disorder.
▪ The registry is a part of a larger Indian Council of Medical Research-led initiative for early diagnosis of aplastic anaemia in India.
Tamil Nadu is all set to create a record in paddy procurement
▪ Tamil Nadu is all set to create a record in paddy procurement, as it is going to touch the 45-lakhtonne mark soon.
▪ As of now, 44.49 lakh tonnes have been procured. As on date, the record in procurement was
44.95 lakh tonnes during 2020-21. With the State procuring an average of about 15,000 tonnes
from farmers on a daily basis,
▪ As in the past, 10 districts falling under the Cauvery delta have contributed nearly two-thirds of the overall procurement with about 30 lakh tonnes
▪ In the form of minimum support price, around ₹10,734 crore has been paid to farmers.
▪ In addition, the State government has been providing ₹130 and ₹105 per quintal for Grade A and common varieties respectively to the farmers.
Tamil Nadu government grant for differently abled persons wishing to start a new business
▪ The Government of Tamil Nadu, through the Tamil Nadu New Business (Entrepreneurship)
Agency, is providing a subsidy of ₹5 lakh to support differently abled individuals who wish to
start new ventures.
▪ The business started under this scheme can be established either individually or as a group.
▪ If the business is started as a group, it is mandatory that at least 57% of the ownership
shares belong to differently abled persons.
▪ Additionally, the office of the business must operate with its headquarters in Tamil Nadu.
