PM SVANidhi
▪ To improve the situation of street vendors who were severely affected by the lockdown imposed during the Corona pandemic, the Central Government introduced this loan scheme on June 1, 2020.
▪ The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) are jointly implementing this scheme.
▪ While this loan scheme’s period ended on December 31, 2024, it has now been extended until March 31, 2030.
Current Status:
▪ Under the PM SVANidhi restructuring scheme, the first installment loan limit for street vendors has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. Similarly, the second installment loan has been increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000.
▪ The third installment loan will continue to be provided at Rs. 50,000 as before.
▪ Street vendors who repay their second loan on time will be eligible to receive a ‘RuPay’ credit card with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) facility.
▪ Additionally, vendors who opt for digital transactions in retail and wholesale trade will be
provided with incentive amounts up to Rs. 1,600
