New India Literacy Programme (NILP)
- Educate 5.28 lakh people under New Bharat Literacy Programme.
- In Tamil Nadu, 5,28,000 students are studying under the New India Literacy Programme on behalf of the School Education Department. They are being taught by 28,848 volunteers.
- The Directorate of Non Formal and Adult Education of the Department of School Education is providing basic literacy, numeracy and life skills to those above the age of 15 years who are not able to read and write through the New India Literacy Programme.
About NILP 2022:
To cover all the aspects of Adult Education to align with National Education Policy 2020
- Term “Adult Education” will be replaced by “Education For All”.
objective:
- To impart not only foundational literacy and numeracy but also to cover other components which are necessary for a citizen of the 21st century.
The scheme will be implemented through volunteerism through online mode.
