National Statistics Day
National Statistics Day is an annual event celebrated in India in June 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis.
Theme 2024 : “Use of data for decision making.“
Mahalanobis is called as the Father of Indian statistics.
Mahalanobis is one of the members of India’s first planning commission.
He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in 1931.
Note
World Statistics Day is observed on October 20.
