HC Ruling on Minority Institutions & Reservation Records

▪ State Minorities Commission cannot demand records from minority educational institutions to verify compliance with reservation rules.

▪ 93rd Constitutional Amendment (2005):
✓ Allows the State to make special provisions for the advancement of Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes pertaining to their admission to educational institutions.
Article 15 – Prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth
▪ Article 15 (5) – Nothing in this article or in sub-clause (g) of clause (1) of article 19 shall prevent the State from making any special provision, by law, for the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes in so far as such special provisions relate to their admission to educational institutions including private educational institutions, whether aided or unaided by the State, other than the minority educational institutions referred to in clause (1) of article 30.

PM-YUVA 3.0 Scheme
▪ PM-YUVA 3.0 (Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors) launched on March , 2025 by the Ministry of Education.
▪ Aimed at mentoring young authors (below 30 years) to promote reading, writing, and book culture.
▪ Builds on the success of previous editions, which had participation in 22 Indian languages & English.
▪ Supports cultural and literary exchange under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
▪ Books will be published & translated into various Indian languages by National Book Trust (NBT).
▪ National Book Trust (NBT), under the Ministry of Education, is the implementing agency.
▪ Themes for PM-YUVA 3.0 – A total of 50 authors will be selected through an All India Contest to be conducted from 11 March 2025 – 10 April 2025 under three themes
✓ Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building (10 authors).
✓ Indian Knowledge System (20 authors).
✓ Makers of Modern India (1950-2025) (20 authors).
