▪ Importance: Mangroves help in carbon sequestration, coastal protection, and ecological stability.
▪ Threat Identified : Spread of invasive Prosopis juliflora in mangrove areas (Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Tiruvallur).
▪ Composition : Existing mangroves: 59.9% (5,414 h.a.) and New plantations: 40.1% (3,625 h.a.)
Identity Cards for 54 Lakh Women in Self-Help Groups
▪ Through the Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation, 3,29,039 self-help groups have been formed in rural areas, with 37,76,575 women members. In urban areas, there are 1,47,430 selfhelp groups with 15,98,144 women.
▪ In total, there are approximately 4.76 lakh self-help groups with about 54 lakh women.
▪ Identity cards for self-help groups are being distributed in two phases.

▪ Permission to carry loads up to 25 kg without charge on urban and suburban buses.
▪ Additional 5% discount when purchasing Co-optex textiles.
▪ Priority in Cooperative, Food, and Consumer Protection Department loan schemes.
▪ Privilege to purchase Aavin products at discounted prices.
▪ 10% discount will be provided at internet service centers.
