Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS)
▪ Context: DRDO successfully flight-tests Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) on August 23, 2025.
▪ IADWS is a fully indigenous integrated air defence system designed to protect critical assets and strategic locations from diverse aerial threats such as aircraft, drones, and missiles. It consists of,
✓ Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAM): Designed for neutralizing high-speed targets at medium ranges.
✓ Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile: A shoulder-fired missile for closerange, low-altitude threats.
✓ Directed Energy Weapon (DEW): A high-energy laser weapon capable of destroying drones with precision.
Hydrogen Train
▪ For the first time in the country, a hydrogen train engine and 8 coaches manufactured by the Chennai Integrated Coach Manufacturing Company (ICF) were transported to the state of Haryana.
▪ In order to transform rail transport in accordance with environmental protection, it was planned to manufacture a hydrogen train engine and coaches on behalf of the Northern Railway Zone.
▪ Accordingly, the work to manufacture a hydrogen engine at a cost of Rs. 80 crore was handed over to the ICF company in Chennai
