‘Sudarshan Chakram’ Air Defence System Shield
▪ The Sudarshana Chakram project will be implemented within the next 10 years to protect the
country from any threat.
About Sudarshana Chakram:
▪ India’s new air defence system is being developed under the Sudarshana Chakram project,
announced in the Prime Minister’s Independence Day speech.
▪ This system will help protect the country’s important and national security centers. It is an
integrated combination of sensors, missiles, surveillance devices, and artificial intelligence (AI)
technology.
▪ Through this, it will be possible to repel enemy attacks and also carry out precise counter-attacks.
Need
▪ A high level of coordination is required for the successful implementation of this project.
▪ Information coming from various sectors will be analyzed in real time and a very accurate security system will be created.
▪ Information from all security platforms on land, air, sea and underwater will be integrated.
▪ The project will use cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, advanced computing, data analytics, and quantum technology.
▪ The project will be fully completed by 2035
BrahMos missile
▪ BrahMos is long-range supersonic cruise missile .
▪ It was first successfully test-fired on June 12, 2001.
▪ The missile system was developed as a joint venture between India and Russia.It is named after India’s Brahmaputra River and Russia’s Moskva River.
INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri
▪ Indian Navy is set to commission the latest state of the art Project 17A multi-mission stealth
frigates Udaygiri and Himgiri at Naval Base, Visakhapatnam.
About INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri
▪ Udaygiri, built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL), Mumbai, and Himgiri, constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, showcase the nation’s growing shipbuilding prowess, as well as, the synergy between India’s premier defence shipyards.
