‘Above normal’ monsoon
▪ The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that India would receive ‘above normal’ monsoon in 2024.
▪ In April, IMD forecasted the June-September rainfall to be 6% above the normal of 87 cm.
▪ India’s north-eastern States are expected to receive deficient rain.
▪ The monsoon ‘core zone’ which wencompasses most of central India and southern India will receive ‘above normal’ rainfall.
