PVTGs
▪ According to 2011 Census, 40 PVT groups were counted within the broader category of Scheduled Tribes (STs), Currently, there are 75 PVT groups across 18 states and one Union Territory.
▪ In 2023, the Centre launched the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM
JANMAN) to provide basic facilities to PVTGs.
PM JANMAN:
▪ Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, is an initiative launched by the Indian
government on November 15, 2023, to improve the socio-economic conditions of 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across 18 states and one Union Territory.
▪ The mission focuses on providing basic facilities like housing, drinking water, education, health, and connectivity, alongside creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through 11 key interventions implemented by nine ministries.
