▪ This award was started in the year 1917,
▪ The Pulitzer Prizes for the year 2025 were given in a total of 23 categories, including 15 categories of journalism and 8 categories of books, drama, music etc.
▪ Fiction: Percival Everett won the award for his novel ‘James’ , which tells the story of ‘Huckleberry Finn’ from the point of view of a slave.
World press freedom prize
▪ The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize for 2025 was awarded to the Nicaraguan newspaper La Prensa.
▪ This recognition acknowledges La Prensa’s resilience and commitment to independent journalism, particularly in the face of government repression and the confiscation of their assets in 2021
▪ The award was announced on World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated on May 3rd
