World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) s
▪ Every year, World No Tobacco Day is observed on 31st May
▪ This year, WNTD is observed on the theme ‘Unmasking the appeal: Exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products’.
▪ In Tamil Nadu, 89% of schools and 87% of colleges have been declared tobacco-free educational institutions by implementing the ‘Yellow Line Campaign’.
▪ ‘Yellow Line Campaign’ – It is an initiative focused on making educational institutions tobacco-free zones by marking a 100-yard (300 feet) radius around them with a yellow line.

Neolithic habitation site unearthed in Assam
▪ An archaeological site in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, uncovered, has yielded artefacts that establish it as a Neolithic habitation zone dating back to more than 2,700 years.
▪ The discovery of a furnace and iron slag, indicating metallurgical activities, has provided “substantial support” for earlier hypotheses that Daojali Hading was a major prehistoric settlement in the northeastern part of India.
▪ The unearthed artefacts linked the site with the broader Eastern and Southeastern Asian Neolithic cultural complex.

National Florence Nightingale Awards
▪ Recently, the President of India presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2025 to the nurses at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
▪ The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 1973, as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services of nurses.
▪ It is a prestigious award given to outstanding nursing personnel employed in Central, State/UTs and Voluntary Organizations.
▪ This year, 15 nurses from various states were felicitated. Among the 15 Smt. Alamelu Mangayarkarasi K received the award from Tamil Nadu.
