Kandeeva – Missile
▪ The Indian Air Force and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have jointly prepared to soon test the Kandeeva variant missile.
▪ Following the Astra Mk-1 and Mk-2 variants, “Kandeeva” is the third product in that series. This variant missile will be powered by a Solid Fuel Ramjet (SFDR) engine. It has the capability to strike targets at a maximum distance of 300-350 km in the air.
▪ The Indian-made Astra Mk-1 has a range of 80-110 km, while the Mk-2 has the capability to fly up to a range of 140-160 km.
