Cyprus’ highest civilian
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus’ highest civilian honour, on June 16, 2025, by President Nikos Christodoulides.
- The award is named after Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of Cyprus, and is reserved for global leaders and dignitaries who have made outstanding contributions to international relations and peace.
- Cyprus is the third largest Mediterranean island after Sicily and Sardinia.
