  • The Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008.
  • Objective – To raise awareness about the need to protect and conserve marine environments.

Kerala: Devaswom to make temples greener Project

  • The Devaswom department of kerala is gearing up to introduce a Programme named ‘Devanganam Charu Haritham’ (God’s sacred green houses) to improve the greenery around temples, ponds, and areas to contributing to nature conservation and environmental protection.
  • Programs will be conducted across the 3080 temples under the Travancore, Kochi, Malabar, Guruvayur, and Koodal Manikyam Devaswom boards.
