First India-France-UAE Trilateral Maritime Exercise held in Gulf of Oman

  • The First edition of India, France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Maritime Partnership Exercise was held in the Gulf of Oman in June 2023. 

Aim

  • To enhancing trilateral cooperation between the three navies.
  • To address traditional and non-traditional threats in the maritime environment

Participants

  • Indian Navy’s INS (Indian Naval Ship) Tarkash (A Second Talwar-class frigate commissioned in 2012)
  • French Navy’s French Ship (FS) Surcouf with integral helicopters, French Rafale aircraft
  • UAE Navy Maritime Patrol Aircraft 

Note

  • The Gulf of Oman borders Iran and Pakistan on the north, Oman on the south and the UAE on the west.

  • India topped the ISSF Junior World Cup 2023 medals tally in Suhl, Germany with a total of 15 medals – Six gold, six silver and three bronze.
