Hyderabad Charminar Building, dedicated to eradicating the plague

  • The charminar was constructed in 1591 to ward off recurring plague. but, 300 years later, another equally destructive plague could have caused havoc. during the time of the nizam, mahboob ali pasha, there was a threat of plague in 1897 but the ruler did not depend on the charminar to save the city. the nizam took practical and immediate measures to ensure that the city would not suffer another plague which had broken out in Bombay.
