Article 200
▪ Article 200 of the Indian Constitution outlines the powers of the Governor regarding a Bill passed by the State Legislature, allowing them to assent to it, withhold assent, return it for reconsideration, or reserve it for the President’s consideration.
▪ If a bill is returned for reconsideration and then passed again by the legislature, the Governor is bound to give assent.
▪ The Supreme Court has ruled that Governors cannot withhold assent indefinitely but must act “as soon as possible”
Article 32
▪ Article 32 of the Indian Constitution, known as the “Right to Constitutional Remedies,” guarantees citizens the right to directly approach the Supreme Court for the enforcement of their Fundamental Rights.
▪ This article gives the Supreme Court the power to issue directions, orders, and writs—such as habeas corpus, mandamus, prohibition, quo warranto, and certiorari—to ensure these rights are upheld.
▪ Dr. B.R. Ambedkar called it the “heart and soul of the Constitution” for making these rights real and enforceable
