Article 48A
▪ Article 48A of the Indian Constitution is a Directive Principle of State Policy that mandates the State to protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wildlife of the country.
▪ This directive was added to the Constitution by the 42nd Amendment Act of 1976 and forms a key part of the State’s responsibility for sustainable development.
