Madras High Court cannot be renamed 
  • The Madras High Court has rejected the Union Law Ministry’s request to change the name of the Madras High Court to a Tamil Nadu High Court.
  • A meeting of all the judges of the Madras High Court recently took place. The meeting also discussed the letter sent by the Union Law Ministry to the High Court regarding the renamed the Madras High Court as the Tamil Nadu High Court.
  • It has been decided at the jury meeting that the names of Chartered Courts such as the Madras High Court and the Bombay High Court and the Calcutta High Court have not been changed and the Madras High Court is in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
