Judicial services examination
▪ The Supreme Court has reinstated a pivotal eligibility criterion for aspirants of the judicial
services examination.
▪ The candidates must possess a minimum of three years of legal practice to qualify for entrylevel judicial positions, such as Civil Judge (Junior Division) posts.
▪ This decision overturns the 2002 ruling that allowed fresh law graduates to directly enter the
judiciary without prior courtroom experience.
Revamped Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) portal
▪ The Government of India has launched a revamped Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) portal.
This initiative aims to improve immigration facilities for OCI cardholders.
▪ The OCI scheme was established in 2005 through an amendment to the Citizenship Act,
1955.
▪ It allows Persons of Indian Origin who were citizens of India post-26 January 1950 to register
as Overseas Citizens.
▪ However, individuals with Pakistani or Bangladeshi ancestry are excluded from eligibility.
World Health Organization’s 78th Assembly
▪ In Geneva, Switzerland, Prime Minister Modi addressed the ongoing 78th assembly of the
World Health Organization via video conference.
▪ The theme of this year’s World Health Organization assembly is “One World for Health.”
▪ Ayushman Bharat, the world’s largest health insurance scheme, covers 580 million people
and provides them with free treatment. Recently, this program was expanded to include all
those over 70 years of age.
▪ Yoga Day Theme The 11th International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21. This year,
the theme “One Earth. Yoga for One Health” will be followed.
