UNESCO World Heritage List

  • The Charaideo Moidams was recently included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site as the 43rd site from India.
  • Charaideo Moidam is a 700yearold moundburial system of the Ahom dynasty from Assam.
  • It is the first cultural site to be added to the list from the Northeast region.
  • They are famously called the “Pyramids of ”
  • After Kaziranga and Manas National Parks, it is Assam’s third World Heritage Site.
  • The World Heritage Committee has inscribed 1,199 sites in 168 countries on the list. About UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • It is declared under World Heritage Convention 1972.
  • It established the framework to preserve the world’s outstanding heritage
