Population Census with Caste-wise Survey
▪ The Central Government has decided to conduct the population census with caste-wise survey in two phases.
▪ The population census with caste-wise survey will commence on October 1, 2026, in the snowcovered regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand states, Ladakh Union Territory, and JammuKashmir Union Territory.
▪ In other parts of the country, this census will begin on March 1, 2027.
▪ The notification regarding the census commencement dates will be published in the Official
Gazette around the 16th under Section 3 of the Census Act 1948.
