Gujarat’s Dhordo awarded as Best Tourism Village by UNWTO

    • Dhordo village in Kutch district of Gujarat was awarded as the Best Tourism Village by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
  • It is famously called as the gateway to the Great Rann of Kutch.
  • The award is given to the villages that are doing exceptional work in terms of rural development, maintenance of the original landscape, cultural heritage and diversity, local values and food traditions.

India’s first Namo Bharat train

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) named as the Namo Bharat train.
  • RRTS connects Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut
  • A total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified for development in the National Capital Region

About RRTS

    • The RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system.
  • Speed – 180 kmph.
  • Objective – To provide a regional development initiative. It is designed to provide high-speed trains for intercity commuting every 15 minutes.

National Diary of Events Star rating energy efficiency scheme for solar panels

  • The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has expanded the Standards & Labelling Programme (S&L) for solar panels.
    • The rating of solar panels through star labels indicate quality and energy efficiency.
    • It will be voluntary for the first two years from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025
  • A panel with efficiency of 17% to 18% will be rated 1star, 18% to 20% 2star and will be rated 5star for efficiency greater than 22%.

    • Launched by – Ministry of Power
    • Objective – To help consumers make an informed choice about various energy-consuming appliances, in terms of energy savings
  • Rated for 29 appliances/equipments (Solar panel was added recently)

  • Functions under Ministry of Power
  • Objective – To develop programs which will increase the conservation and efficient use of energy in India
