NAKSHA
▪ National geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban HAbitations (NAKSHA)
▪ It is a city survey initiative under the existing Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
▪ It aims to modernize urban land records using GIS and aerial surveys by creating an accurate geospatial database for towns and cities.
Launched On: February, 2025
▪ Ministry : Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Land Resources (DoLR)
▪ The initiative is 100% centrally funded and is currently in a pilot phase covering 152 urban local bodies in 26 states.
▪ Tamil Nadu is one of the 26 states where the pilot phase of NAKSHA is being conducted.
▪ Tamil Nadu is one of the few states (along with Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa) that already has structured and relatively updated urban land records.
