OCI Cards to Mauritius Officials
- Prime Minister Modi honored four people with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards: Mauritius President Prithvirajsing Roopun and his wife, and Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and his wife.
- OCI cardholders are granted rights to live, work, and study in India without time limitations.
- Travel to India can be done without a visa, and various concessions are provided.
- There are 22,188 Indians and 13,198 OCI cardholders in Mauritius.
About OCI Cards
- The Indian government introduced the ‘Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)’ scheme in 2005 under the Citizenship Act.
- However, those with Pakistani or Bangladeshi citizenship cannot apply for OCI.
- OCI cardholders do not have voting rights.
Introduction of Immigration and Foreign Visitors Regulation Bill
- A bill to regulate immigration, foreign visitors’ entry to India, stay, and return to their home countries was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
- This bill was introduced by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.
- According to current laws, the Bureau of Immigration, state governments, and Union Territories are involved in foreigners’ stay, tourism, and return to their home countries.
- Under the new bill, all foreign arrivals, stays, and departures will be under central government control.
Cybercriminals Arrested Through ‘Pratibimb’ Software
- The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has reported to Parliament that 6,046 cybercriminals have been arrested so far through the ‘Pratibimb’ Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
- ‘Samanvaya’ software has been introduced to create coordination between police and law enforcement agencies to share and analyze data about cybercriminals.
- Through this, states can share analytical data about cybercriminals’ contacts.
- I4C has reported that 36,296 requests were made, 17,185 website links were blocked, and 6,046 criminals were arrested through this system.
15 Major Infrastructure Projects in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh; National Project Monitoring Committee
- Under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti (National Project Monitoring Committee) monitors key projects.
- 25 issues related to 15 major projects were examined, and decisions worth Rs. 10,396 crore were made.
- Specifically, studies were conducted on Labor Hospitals (ESIC) in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. It was decided to prioritize the implementation of these hospitals to provide special treatment and health benefits to workers.
- Additionally, the expansion of Reliance Jio’s 5G and 4G services, solutions to wildlife issues, and improving service in challenging areas like Siachen were addressed.

- Digital platform to integrate ministries like Railways and Roadways for coordinated infrastructure planning and execution.
- It brings together 44 Central Ministries and 36 States and Union Territories (UTs).
