Fortified biscuits to be given to 40K children in Villupuram

  • Social welfare minister Geetha Jeevan inaugurated a scheme that entails the distribution of health biscuits to malnourished children in the age group of six months to 6 years as part of the state government’s initiative to address malnutrition. 
  • The event was held at Keezhperumbakkam anganwadi in Villupuram.
  • Government announced that 1.4 lakh children will be provided with fortified biscuits under the scheme, which will benefit 40,000 children identified by the social welfare department in Villupuram.

Poshan app helps migrant workers access Anganwadi services during relocation.

  • Women and Child Development Ministry said more than 57,000 migrant workers have registered for the One Nation, One Anganwadi programme.
  • Total registered beneficiaries – 10.6 crore. 
  • Out of which 47.6 lakh were lactating mothers, 7.48 crore pregnant women and the rest children.

  • Scheme launched in 2018.
  • The focus is to lay emphasis on nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 0-6 years age.
