Timeline for future space initiatives
▪ 2026: An uncrewed space mission with a robot named “Vyommitra.”
▪ 2027: The maiden human spaceflight, “Gaganyaan.”
▪ 2035: Establishment of India’s own “Bharat Antariksh Station” (Indian Space Station).
▪ 2040: Indian astronaut is planned to land on the moon in 2040. This mission is envisioned as a symbol of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047.
▪ The space sector reforms initiated by Prime Minister in 2014, including opening the sector to private players in 2020, have boosted India’s space economy to $8 billion and are projected to reach $45 billion in the next decade.
