India’s first testing centre
- India’s first Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drone) Common Testing Centre under Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS) will be established in Tamil Nadu.
- The testing centre would enable the State to be a significant contributor to the self-reliance of the country in the aerospace and defence sectors.
- Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) is the nodal agency for the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor (TNDIC).
About Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS)
- It was launched to boost domestic defence and aerospace manufacturing.
- Ministry of Defence (MoD) has launched the scheme on May 08, 2020.
