Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra govt launched ‘Shiv Bhojan’ scheme

  • The Shiv Sena party led Maharashtra Government (govt) launched ‘Shiv Bhojan’ scheme, with the aim of providing meal to the poor for 10 on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day. The district guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh inaugurated the “Shiv Bhojan Thali” canteen at the civic-run Nair Hospital, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Goal of the scheme: 

  • To provide affordable & quality food to all, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and financial status.

Key Points:

  • The State Govt. is expected to incur an expense of 6.4 crorefor the pilot ‘Shiv Bhojan’ thali project that will run for 3 months & will expand the number of such canteen based on feedback.
  • Initially, 50 ‘Shiv Bhojan’ canteen started at district headquarters will function at the place where poor people work or live at markets, district hospitals, bus stations, railway stations and govt. offices.
