SIRPI scheme
- Tamil Nadu Government launched the ‘Students in Responsible Police Initiatives’ (SIRPI) for students of 100 State-run schools which would benefit around 5,000 students.
- SIRPI aims to inculcate discipline and social awareness among students.
- Under SIRPI, over 2,700 boys and 2,200 girls (on a voluntary basis) from 100 government schools in Chennai would report to the two nodal officers appointed in each of these schools every Wednesday.
- The students would be offered classes in physical fitness, sports and parades, among others, by police officers and experts.
- The students would be provided a booklet and food during the classes. They would be taken on camping trips to eight tourist spots.
RFID technology to monitor the blood
- The Tamil Nadu Health Department introduced the Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai and the Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, to monitor the supply chain management of blood and blood products on World AIDS Day 2022
- It also launched a computerised registry and mobile application with details of voluntary blood donors.
- The registry and the Tamil Nadu Blood Donors app, developed at a cost of ₹10 lakh, will have details of repeated voluntary blood donors and their blood groups.
