Welfare Schemes Deep Sea Mission ▪ India set to be the 6th country to have its own Deep Sea Mission after US, Russia, Japan, France, and China. ▪ Samudryaan Mission was developed as a part of India’s Deep Sea Mission. About Deep Sea Mission ▪ Objective - To explore and harness the depths of the ocean. ▪ Nodal Agency - The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) ▪ Samudrayaan Mission is India’s First Manned Ocean Mission. ▪ This mission will be carried out in a Deep sea submersible called ‘Matsya 6000’ ▪ Matsya 6000 is a three-person submersible that will be able to go 6,000 metres under the sea. ▪ This vessel is being developed by Chennai's National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).
