NASA Discovers Potentially Habitable Earth-Sized World “TOI 700 d” in Star’s ‘Goldilocks’ Zone

The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS)of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has discovered an Earth-sized world ‘Goldilocks’ zone within the habitable range of the star. Scientists confirmed the find as TOI 700 d by using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope. About Goldilocks Zone: The Goldilocks Zone refers to the habitable zone around a star where the temperature is not too hot and not too cold and liquid water to exist on this planet. Key Points: TESS discovered three planets in the satellite named TOI 700 b, c and d. First habitable-zone Earth-sized planet is TOI 700 d, the outermost planet 20% larger than Earth and orbits its star in 37 days. TOI 700 d is 100 light years away from earth. TOI b is the innermost planet which is rocky and TOI c is the middle planet between Earth and Neptune. TESS was launched by NASA on 18 April 2018 to find the earth-sized planet orbiting nearby stars.

NASA to launch rover ‘MARS 2020’ in the year 2020

NASA to launch rover ‘MARS 2020’ in the year 2020

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) announced to launched its rover ‘MARS 2020’ in the year 2020. The rover will land on Mars, the 4th closest planet to the sun. it is also known as the red planet. The rover is built and managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California,United States(US). Weight: The body of the Mars 2020 rover weighs 2,260 pounds (1,025 kilograms), New Technology Introduced: Mars 2020 will feature an important new technology i.e., Terrain Relative Navigation (TRN). Exploration: The rover will also explore a landscape shaped by water which is called the ‘Jezero Crater’, the site of an ancient delta. New Technology Introduced:Mars 2020 will feature an important new technology i.e., Terrain Relative Navigation (TRN). Capturing features:‘Mars 2020’ has 23 cameras, most of them are colour cameras. The rover also two microphones to capture not only the first sounds of a Mars landing but also Martian wind and the rover’s chemical-analyzing laser zaps. About National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA): Founded- 29 July 1958. Founder- Dwight D. Eisenhower. Headquarters- Washington, D.C., United States (US).
