Important Days Tamil Nadu State Formation Day – July 18 
July 18 is observed as Tamil Nadu State Formation Day from 2023. July 18 was the day on which a resolution moved by then Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai was adopted in the State Legislative Assembly to rename the then Madras State as Tamil Nadu in 1967. Note Madras State became Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala on November 1, 1956 Martyrs Day - July 17 July 17 is observed as Martyrs Day in Tamil Nadu. The day aims to honour the contributions of Thiyagi Arya (alias) Bhashiyam, Thiyagi Sankaralinganar, Thiyagi Shenbagaraman.
