Terracotta Bowl Found in Vembakkottai Excavation ▪ A terracotta bowl was discovered during the third phase of excavation near Vembakkottai in Virudhunagar district. ▪ More than 3,400 artifacts have been discovered so far, including gold coins, copper coins, terracotta figurines, chess pieces, glass beads, circular discs, and conch bangles. About Archaeological Department ▪ The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was established in 1861, and operates under the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act of 1904 and the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958. ▪ The Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology was established in 1961. Two Permanent Judges Appointed to Chennai High Court ▪ President Droupadi Murmu has ordered the appointment of V. Lakshminarayanan and P. Vadamalai, who were serving as additional judges in the Chennai High Court, as permanent judges. ▪ Out of 65 judges in the Chennai High Court, 54 were permanent judges. With the appointment of these two new permanent judges, the number of permanent judges has increased to 56.
