▪ A MoU was signed between the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, Google Play, and Unity as part of the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme to train students in game development.

Social Welfare Schemes in Tamil Nadu
▪ Through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, 12 schemes are being implemented in Tamil
Nadu for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26, including:
✓ Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jati Abhyudaya Yojana (Prime Minister’s Scheduled Caste
Development Scheme)
✓ Pre-matric scholarships for Scheduled Castes and others
✓ Atal Divo Abhinay Yojana
✓ Pre-matric scholarships for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Backward Classes
✓ Research scholarships for OBC students
✓ Assistive devices for persons with disabilities
▪ Rs. 16.59 crores has been released for the financial year 2025-26 under the Prime Minister’s
Anusuchit Jati Abhyudaya Yojana.
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme
▪ Tamil Nadu ranks first in the utilization of funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.
▪ Tamil Nadu provides maximum employment opportunities to women through MGNREGA,
complementing the already high female employment in factories across the state.
▪ MGNREGA – The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment (MGNREG)
✓ It is the largest public employment program in the world.
▪ Implementation: By Ministry of Rural Development in India.
▪ Legal provision: The scheme is based on MGNREGA Act, 2005 which makes a legislative
commitment to provide right to work.
▪ Aim: To enhance the livelihood security of people by guaranteeing 100 days of wage-employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled work.
