ST.N. to provide health insurance for mental health homes’ inmates”
▪ Tamil Nadu government will enroll all inmates of registered mental health homes under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS).
▪ Aimed at helping inmates who may suffer from cardiac conditions, fractures, hernias, or require medical management.
▪ Inmates will get access to medical and surgical treatment in government and empanelled private hospitals.
Tamil Nadu’s new HAWK platform
▪ The Hostile Activity Watch Kernel (HAWK) is a new platform launched by the Tamil Nadu forest department to combat forest and wildlife crimes.
▪ It was launched in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and NTT Data.
▪ Launched on August 12, 2025( World Elephant Day).
▪ HAWK is a real-time crime management system that utilizes advanced technology, data
analytics, and artificial intelligence to serve as a centralized intelligence and monitoring system
for the state.
▪ It aims to streamline documentation, improve decision-making, and enable proactive responses to wildlife crimes by making crime reports instantly available to all users across the state.
Hero Stone
▪ A 13th century warrior’s hero stone was discovered near Mettur.
▪ The earliest and oldest of such memorial Hero stones is found in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is more than 2400 years old that is 4th Century BC.
▪ The largest concentration of such memorial stones is found in the Indian state of Karnataka.
▪ A Sati stone, which is believed to be at least 300 years old was unearthed from Tirupur city,
Tamil Nadu in 2021.

Lending Institutions (Prohibition of Coercive Collection) Act 2025
▪ The ‘Tamil Nadu Government Lending Institutions (Prohibition of Coercive Collection) Act 2025’ came into effect last June.
▪ According to this act, going to the borrower’s home or workplace and threatening, behaving
inappropriately, engaging in violence, forcibly confiscating properties – those from private financial institutions engaging in such activities will face maximum imprisonment up to five years and maximum fine up to five lakh rupees.
▪ If borrowers are subjected to mental distress and driven to suicide, ten years imprisonment.

reforms, and mass movements.
▪ Early Resistance (18th Century)
✓ Queen Velu Nachiyar of Sivaganga: Fought the British with her sword.
✓ Puli Thevan (1751): First to raise the war cry against British rule from Nelkattumseval.
✓ Veerapandiya Kattabomman (Panchalankurichi): Resisted British rule; captured and hanged at Kayathar in 1799.
✓ Dheeran Chinnamalai: Fought and won battles against British at Kaveri banks and Odanilai;
later hanged at Sankagiri Fort in 1805.
▪ Vellore Sepoy Uprising (1806)
✓ Sparked by religious and dress restrictions imposed by British.
✓ 1,500 sepoys rebelled; nearly 100 Englishmen were killed.
✓ Considered a precursor to the 1857 First War of Independence.
▪ Assassination of Robert Ash (1911)
✓ Vanchinathan killed British Collector Robert Ash at Maniyachi Railway Station.
✓ Marked a major turning point in the freedom struggle.
