Chola Era Inscription of Parantaka Cholan Found in Shiva Temple
▪ The Tamil Nadu government has reported that an inscription of Parantaka Cholan I has been
discovered in a Shiva temple in Ootathur, Trichy district.
▪ A total of 13 new inscriptions were discovered in Ootathur, which was called Thiruvurathur in
ancient inscriptions. Of these, 5 inscriptions are complete while the other 7 are fragmentary.
▪ These inscriptions contain partial historical information about the victories of Raja Raja I and
Rajendra I. Of the 5 complete inscriptions, 4 belong to the Chola period. The other one is reported to be from the Pandya period.
