MGNREGS
▪ The Tamil Nadu government recently sanctioned ₹1,229 crore for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for 2024-25.
✓ ₹921.78 crore (75%) – Central government
✓ ₹307.26 crore (25%) – State government.
Note
▪ The Central Government had recently increased the wages under the MGNREGS by ₹25 per day.
▪ In Tamil Nadu the wages under MGNREGS is ₹319 per day.
About MGNREGS

▪ Objective – to provide at least 100 days of guaranteed employment to rural households
