September 6 – ‘Police Day’
▪ The Madras District Police Act was passed in 1859.
▪ Based on this, the modern and organized police force was established on September 6.
▪ To commemorate this and to honor the police who protect public peace, Chief Minister
announced that September 6 will be celebrated as Police Day every year.
