CETA Free Trade Agreement
▪ India and the U.K., in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and British Prime Minister Keir
Starmer, signed a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a free trade pact
aimed at enhancing bilateral ties.
▪ The agreement replaces the earlier ‘Roadmap 2030’ with the expanded ‘India-U.K. Vision
2035’, outlining long-term cooperation goals.
▪ Under CETA, Britain will offer tax concessions on 99% of Indian exports, including full
customs duty exemptions on 99% of marine products and about 95% of agricultural products.
▪ PM Modi emphasized that the deal would elevate diplomatic relations with renewed momentum over the next decade.
