Vice President – Second-highest constitutional position in India.
The election to the office of Vice-President is governed by The Presidential and Vice-Presidential
Elections Act, 1952 and The Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Rules, 1974.
The Vice-President is elected by an Electoral College, which consists of members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, including nominated members.
The nomination paper has to be subscribed by at least 20 electors as proposers and at least
20 electors as seconders
President’s Rule in Manipur Extended for Another 6 Months
The House has approved the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur state for another 6 months,
which was proclaimed on February 13, 2025, under Article 356 of the Constitution.
This will come into effect from August 13.
President’s Rule implemented in a state typically lasts for 6 months.
However, with Parliament’s approval, it can be extended for up to 3 years, renewed every six months
Student Suicides in Educational Institutions: Supreme Court Issues 15 Guidelines
These guidelines will remain in effect until the government enacts appropriate legislation regarding this matter.
All educational institutions must follow uniform mental health protection programs and national suicide prevention guidelines.
Educational institutions with 100 or more students must appoint qualified counselors, psychologists, or social workers to provide guidance on mental health protection for young students.
