Archaeologist Natan. Kasinathan
▪ He is a former Director of the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department and a historian.
▪ Born in Thoppalakkuppam, Virudachalam Taluk, Cuddalore District.
▪ Joined the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department in 1967 as an epigraphist.
Served as Deputy Director in 1981 and Director in 1989 of the Tamil Nadu Archaeology
Department.
▪ Founded the organization “Tamil Nadu Thonmai Iyala Ayvu Nilayam” and has conducted several seminars.
▪ Has conducted extensive research in Tamil inscriptions, archaeology, history, excavation,
numismatics, and manuscripts, and authored several books.
▪ Recipient of numerous awards, including the Tamil Nadu U.Ve.Sa. Award.
Under his leadership, Tamil Nadu’s first deep-sea exploration at Poompuhar was conducted.
▪ Donated over 3,000 documents, including his books and journals to the Roja Muthiah Research Library.
