World Mental Health Day
▪ World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10
▪ First initiated in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH).
▪ Theme for 2025 – ‘ Access to Services- Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies’
India’s Initiatives
▪ Mental Healthcare Act (2017): Guarantees mental health care, decriminalises suicide,
mandates insurance, and ensures patient dignity and autonomy.
▪ District Mental Health Programme (DMHP): Covers ~767 districts with counselling,
outpatient services, and suicide prevention.
▪ Tele MANAS: 24×7 helpline; over 20 lakh tele-counselling sessions conducted.
▪ School programmes: Manodarpan has reached 11 crore students.
‘Revenue Department Day’
▪ July 1, the first day of the Fasli year, will be observed as ‘Revenue Department Day’ by the
Tamil Nadu government.
Fasli Year
▪ It is a traditional agricultural calendar system.
▪ It starts on July 1 of every Gregorian calendar year.
▪ It serves as the primary reference for land revenue, updating village records, Jamabandi
events, and the annual audited account of crop cultivation in Tamil Nadu.
▪ It is believed to have been initially followed during the Mughal era and was continued by
colonial rulers.
