India Elected as Member of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
 India has been elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the seventh time.
 The UNHRC functions as a global body dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights around the world.
 The Council comprises 47 member countries.
 Its members are elected by the United Nations General Assembly.
 India has been a member of the UNHRC since its inception in 2006.

 Objective: To monitor human rights violations, promote protection, and support the advancement of human rights globally.
 It serves as the principal international body for the protection of human rights.
 The Council has 47 member countries, each elected for a three-year term.
 Its functions include investigating human rights violations and providing recommendations and advice to countries.
