Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
POCSO Act came into effect on 14th November 2012 which was enacted in consequence to India’s ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992.
It is the first comprehensive law in the country dealing specifically with sexual abuse of children
It is administered by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
It was intended to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornographic
violations, as well as to establish Special Courts for such trials.
The Act defines a child as any person below the age of 18 years. The Act provides punishment as per the gravity of offence.
Population Census
The pre-test for the first phase of the 2027 population census will be conducted from November 10 to 30 in selected sample areas across all states and union territories.
This will be the first digital census and the first time caste data will be collected in independent India.
This is the first population census since 2011 and will be completed in 2027.
It will cover over 2.6 million people across 76 districts in 36 states and union territories.
