Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012
 POCSO Act came into effect on 14th November 2012 which was enacted in consequence to India’s ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992.
 It is the first comprehensive law in the country dealing specifically with sexual abuse of children
 It is administered by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
 It was intended to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornographic
violations, as well as to establish Special Courts for such trials.
 The Act defines a child as any person below the age of 18 years. The Act provides punishment as per the gravity of offence.
Population Census
 The pre-test for the first phase of the 2027 population census will be conducted from November 10 to 30 in selected sample areas across all states and union territories.
 This will be the first digital census and the first time caste data will be collected in independent India.
 This is the first population census since 2011 and will be completed in 2027.
 It will cover over 2.6 million people across 76 districts in 36 states and union territories.
