Govt.sanctions ₹186 cr. to GCC to provide food for sanitation workers
- The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned ₹186 crore for a welfare initiative to provide food to conservancy (sanitation) workers under the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
- The scheme will be implemented for a period of three years.
- The money will be allocated from the Sixth State Finance Commission.
- The programme will begin in Chennai and later be expanded to other urban local bodies in a phased manner.
- Tamil Nadu tops the list in spiritual and medical tourism
- The 4th Tamil Nadu State Tourism Awards ceremony was held in Chennai on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department.
- In this, 52 institutions and individuals were awarded state tourism awards in 17 categories by the Tamil Nadu Government.
- The Ministers of the Public Welfare Department have said that Tamil Nadu has topped the list in spiritual and medical tourism in India at this ceremony.
- They have also said that work is being done at a cost of Rs. 705 crore to develop tourist destinations across Tamil Nadu.
