World Stroke Day
- Observed every year on October 29,
- The day is observed as a global reminder to recognize the early signs of stroke and act quickly Stroke: “Brain attack”
- Often described as a “brain attack”, a stroke occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced.
- This prevents the brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. This interruption can be due to a blockage (ischemic stroke) or bleeding (hemorrhagic stroke).
